Dr. Cristian Rabiti is a visionary engineer and entrepreneur who has dedicated his career to advancing and reshaping the field of nuclear energy. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of NuCube Energy, an innovative company that will transform how nuclear fission is used to power our society. Dr. Rabiti's journey from the laboratories of national institutions to the helm of a groundbreaking startup is testament to his passion for innovation and his commitment to creating sustainable energy solutions that will lead to a sustainable energy future. Through his work, Dr. Rabiti is positioning nuclear energy as a vital component of a cleaner and more renewable world.

Prior to joining NuCube Energy, Dr. Rabiti served as Vice President of U.S. Market Business Development at Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation, where he did pioneer work to create market opportunities for advanced nuclear reactors.

Dr. Rabiti brings a wealth of additional experience to his new role at NuCube, including an extensive background at U.S. national laboratory complex, including Argonne National Laboratory and Idaho National Laboratory (INL). While at INL, he specialized in software development for a wide range of nuclear industry needs, spanning nuclear core design, risk analysis, reactor simulation, fuel cycle optimization, and nuclear energy economic modeling. He earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Stuttgart and obtained an Executive MBA from IE Business School in Madrid.

Director, Nuclear Fuels and Materials

Dr. Mitchell K. Meyer is a highly respected expert in nuclear fuels and materials, with a distinguished career spanning nearly three decades. As Director of Nuclear Fuels and Materials at NuCube Energy, Dr. Meyer focuses on designing, selecting, testing, and qualifying materials to ensure that they meet rigorous standards for performance and safety in nuclear systems.

Before joining NuCube, Dr. Meyer held significant leadership roles including Fuel Qualification Manager at Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation, where he led the testing campaign for an advanced nuclear fuel. At Idaho National Laboratory (INL), he served in several key positions, including Director of Nuclear Fuels and Materials, Director of Characterization and Advanced Post-Irradiation Examination, founded the Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF) program, and served as the National Technical Lead for Fuel in the National Nuclear Security Agency’s Global Threat Reduction Initiative. His work at INL included managing multi-million-dollar research programs and building new laboratory facilities, helping to position the lab at the forefront of nuclear fuel and materials research. Dr. Meyer’s technical publications have been cited more than 4,000 times.

Dr. Meyer earned his Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering from Iowa State University and also served as (part time) Professor of Practice at Oregon State University, where he developed and taught a course on nuclear fuels. With a career defined by innovation, leadership, and a passion for advancing nuclear energy, Dr. Meyer continues to drive forward efforts that will help shape a sustainable, low-carbon energy future.

Program Director

Lorin Young is a seasoned professional engineer and senior manager with a career dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions through strategic project and program delivery. As Program Director at NuCube Energy, he is part of the leadership team that is fulfilling the mission of powering the world by creating small, safe, simple, and economically viable reactors that can provide electricity and process heat. He leads key initiatives at the company that include program development and licensing strategy underscoring his commitment to innovation in clean energy.

Prior to joining NuCube, Mr. Young spent two decades delivering nuclear and clean energy projects worth $40M annually as a Senior Project Director with Jacobs Engineering. His tenure involved overseeing multi-million-dollar projects that served power production, DOE, DOD, and industrial clients and ensured successful outcomes with a strong emphasis on health and safety, quality control, and fiscal responsibility.

He specializes in delivery of complex projects involving multiple organizations and external stakeholders such as nuclear and industrial facility licensing, site selection and characterization, hazard analysis, geological and geotechnical investigations, environmental assessments, and facility engineering. Mr. Young has successfully navigated complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring compliance and safety in projects governed by NRC, DOE, NEPA, and IAEA standards. He earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering from Utah State University.

Core Design Methods Manager

Dr. Andrea Alfonsi is a distinguished nuclear engineer and scientific innovator with more than 15 years of expertise that spans research and industry. Since joining NuCube Energy in 2023 as the Nuclear Core Design Methods Manager, Dr. Alfonsi has been at the forefront of developing advanced nuclear core technologies that support NuCube’s pioneering approach to clean energy.

Before joining NuCube, Dr. Alfonsi served as the Nuclear Design and Analysis Functional Manager at Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC) from 2021 to 2023. In this position, he led a large, multidisciplinary team of engineers in USNC’s Advanced Technology division, guiding the technical strategy for designing nuclear systems intended for space applications. Under his leadership, his team achieved critical milestones, addressing the unique challenges of space environments, pushing the boundaries of nuclear applications beyond Earth.

Dr. Alfonsi spent over a decade at Idaho National Laboratory, leading transformative projects like, and not only, RAVEN, an AI-aided platform for data and risk analysis, and PHISICS, an advanced reactor physics toolkit. These innovations tackled methodological challenges in uncertainty quantification, safety assessment, and core design, showcasing his expertise in advancing nuclear engineering technologies.

Dr. Alfonsi’s technical expertise is further evidenced by his extensive research output, including over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, more than 65 papers at international conferences, and over 40 technical reports. His research contributions cover advanced reactor design, reduced-order modeling, and innovative methods in reactor physics, safety analysis and PRA. His scientific background is anchored by a Ph.D. in Energy (Nuclear) Engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza," in Italy.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Kais Kawar is dedicated to advancing nuclear technology and innovative mechanical design for a sustainable future. As Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at NuCube Energy, he specializes in nuclear mechanical design, piping systems, ASME codes, automation, stress analysis, and robotics to develop cutting-edge solutions in the nuclear industry.

Prior to joining NuCube, Mr. Kawar was a Mechanical Design Engineer at X-energy, where he played a pivotal role in several high-profile projects. He was the primary designer of X-energy’s Nuclear Thermal Propulsion engine and Nuclear Electric Propulsion reactor concept for NASA's Mars missions. Mr. Kawar also designed the power conversion module and the transportation concept for X-energy's Mobile Nuclear Reactor for the United States Army's Pele Project. He developed mechanical concepts, designs, and processes for advanced nuclear applications, including pressure vessels, reactivity control mechanisms, structural core components, reflector assemblies, heat exchangers, cooling systems, shielding systems, and enclosures.

Earlier in his career at Fives Cinetic, Mr. Kawar gained significant automation experience applicable to fueling systems and robotic maintenance in the nuclear industry. He led innovations that increased efficiency and output, demonstrating his passion for robotics and automation.

Mr. Kawar earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). During his time at UIC, he gained extensive research experience in the nanoscale lab and the UIC Innovation Center, conducting cutting-edge research for companies like Caterpillar. His dedication to innovation drives his contributions to advanced mechanical systems vital for a cleaner and technologically advanced world.

Founder and CEO, Idealab Studio

Bill Gross founded Idealab Studio in 2018. Bill is a lifelong entrepreneur: he started his first solar business in high school, then invented and sold high-end speakers in college, followed by a natural language product for Lotus 1-2-3, then an educational software company called Knowledge Adventure and then CitySearch. Bill founded Idealab, the longest-running start-up technology incubator, in 1996. Among Bill’s transformative innovations is the invention of the “paid click” or CPC (cost-per-click) model with the company GoTo.com/Overture, which he founded, and which today powers most of the monetization of the internet.

Bill’s newest efforts in renewable energy include Energy Vault, a company that has developed a breakthrough in low-cost energy storage, and Heliogen, a company whose breakthrough technology will meaningfully contribute to the world’s efforts to minimize reliance on fossil fuels. Bill serves on the boards of directors of numerous companies and is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the ArtCenter College of Design. Bill received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech.

Gavin is a Partner and Chief of Staff at Prime Movers Lab where he helps portfolio companies with public relations, government relations, and fundraising. In addition to NuCube Energy, he also serves on the boards of Spartan Radar, Space Perspective, Twist, Zafrens, Casimir, ProRata.ai, Water From Air, Dalan Animal Health, Overview Energy, polySpectra, Polpis, and Wacomet, and he is a board observer for Pyka and NobleAI.

Prior to joining Prime Movers Lab, Gavin was a Vice President at Method Communications where he supported the firm’s startup clients on issues related to media relations, public affairs, and crisis communications. Gavin previously worked for Edelman’s Washington, D.C. technology practice, representing some of the world's largest technology brands, such as Samsung, Adobe, and the Business Software Alliance. He started his career on Capitol Hill with the Senate Finance Committee for Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), advising the majority staff on media strategies to pass trade, healthcare, and tax legislation. He graduated with a master’s degree in political management from The George Washington University and earned bachelor’s degrees in communication (journalism) and political science from Washington State University.
